    • On December 31st, 2000 TechRepublic published the comment piece Trust me, I’m from Security
  • On December 12th, TechRepublic published the article Using an application service provider to filter out viruses”  
  • In November, the Spanish website VIRUSPROT  posted the second part of  “LA SEGURIDAD DE SISTEMAS: ¿EN QUÉ NOS AFECTA?” – What affects our systems on-line?
  • On November 15th, the SecurityFocus website published the third article in a series concerning objects which can be infected by viruses – Macro related files.
  • On October 23rd, the SecurityFocus website published the second article in a series concerning objects which can be infected by viruses – Windows files.
  • The Spanish website VIRUSPROT posted the first part of   “LA SEGURIDAD DE SISTEMAS: ¿EN QUÉ NOS AFECTA?” – What affects our systems on-line?
  • The October issue of Monitor Magazine carries a review of Norton Personal Firewall 2000
  • In October, the SecurityFocus website started with the first article in a series concerning the objects which can be infected by viruses or contain infected objects DOS system areas and 16-bit executables.
  • The TechRepublic site contains an article “What’s the next big virus coming down the pipe?” 

  • The September issue of Information Security magazine contains the column “The Next War”, a comment on the need to look at alternative approaches for finding viruses.
  • The SecurityFocus website contains an article entitled A Day in the Life“, a look at how Virus Labs deal with the new viruses they receive each day. ( Pierre Vandevenne of DataRescue said: “The article is blatantly excellent: well written and technically accurate. Miles away from the usual ramblings on virus writer’s psychology or the stealth propaganda served by anti-virus companies.” )      The October 2000 issue of  Beveiliging, The Monthly Professional Journal For Integrated Security and Safety Reports, published a Dutch translation of this article.

  • On April 18th, the SecurityFocus website published the fifth article in a series concerning objects which can be infected by viruses – HTML and other script files(“Robert Vibert has been a regular contributor to the SecurityFocus Virus focus area. His articles are invariably well-researched and well-written. They continue to serve as a valuable resource for our readers.” Stephen Entwisle, Editor, SecurityFocus.com)
  • The February issue of Information Security magazine contains the feature AV Alternatives, an overview  of non-scanning technologies for finding viruses, ActiveX, Java, and other forms of malware.

In January, 2001, Global InfoSecurity 2001 was published by World Markets Research Centre – a comment piece on the developments in the anti-virus world over the past years.

  • On May 22nd,  on the SearchSecurity.com site an article Time to stop inventing virus wheels appeared.
  • On May 8th,  on the SearchSecurity.com site a short PowerPoint show was presented on the malware threat.
